LEJKA OUR SHINING SHOWSTAR

Never expected to be but Lejka became a showstar of my impossible dreams. She was a dog of my lifetime, a dog you can only have once in a lifetime. Impressions she left on all of us are very deep.

Being disqualifiqued on her first show and getting only very good on her second show when 11 months old, we wondered about her quality. She lacked showmanship and was a somewhat reserved and shy towards strangers, so we decided to show her in open class once more and on Lejka's result on that »fatal« show CACIB Zagreb in April 1993 her show future depended. Luckily the Croatian judge Sandor Horvath liked her very much so she got CAC CACIB BOB and made us all so very happy and proud.

She was my first CACIB dog and my first group winner, that's why she always will be very special.

Since that show her winning streak continued. Soon she became BIS (Best In Show) on Italian speciality of Belgian Sheepdogs in Udine in May 1993 at only 19 months of age and other successes followed.

Well like in real life also on shows we experienced some dissapointments and some not so good marks but in general we are very pleased with Lejka's long and successful show career.

She was one of the most appealing laekenois ladies of her time and that made us very proud.

She was always showing herself perfectly, never put a foot wrong and her movement was like dreams - so elegant, so smooth like poetry in motion.

She finished her show career on World dog show in Amsterdam at nearly 11 years of age where she became Best of Breed Veteran World Winner and third best bitch absolute.
